Josanna's Living Legacy

This farm began as Josanna's dream, and we keep her spirit close by feeding people, teaching organic skills, and opening our orchard paths to guests. When you walk the land with us, you step into that story too, and your visit helps keep this old Hawaii food forest thriving.

What This Place Offers

Each accommodation has the basics - hot outdoor showers, clean linens and towels, toiletries, and toilets (composting or flushing depending on the cottage). Kitchens come stocked with cooking essentials, dishes, fridge, and stove so you can cook with produce from our farm stand. WiFi is available at the Main Lodge for email and light personal use, but this is off-grid living so no streaming or teleworking. Free parking, pets welcome, and someone's always around since we live here. Smoke alarms and fire extinguishers in place.

What we don't have: TV, washer/dryer, air conditioning, heating, or carbon monoxide alarms. This is solar-powered jungle living - you stay cool with screened windows and trade climate control for coqui frog symphonies. If you need modern conveniences, this isn't your place. But if you're here for real off-grid Hawaii, you'll have everything that matters.

My friend and I loved our stay at Janelle's! It was truly a unique experience. You are really out in the countryside/ rainforest, away from people. It really does feel like a retreat as you are surrounded by animals (cats, wild pigs, all manner of birds, frogs, etc) and the soundtrack at night is amazing. That said, this is truly more of a "glamping" experience than anything, so be prepared to spot geckos and frogs in your living space. It also gets quite damp and humid at night with the rain. We opted for one of Janelle's amazing dinners and it was probably our best meal in Hawaii. She is a superb cook and so entertaining to talk to!
